Last week I spent a week at our Girasoles home in Ica with a new group from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There were 10 people in the group and they were all new to Peru and to Scripture Union. I enjoy traveling with groups that have been here before, but there is something about a completely new-to-Peru group. Everything is new and the trip has a different feel to it. I have been to Ica dozens of times and know the city well, but when I travel with a group who has never been before it is as if we are all experiencing it for the first time together.
The group had a few different work projects to complete during the week, starting with moving a large pile of bricks from where they had been dropped off at the front of the property to the back where the bricks would be used.
They also painted two of the buildings, restrung the clothes lines in the laundry room, realigned all of the doors in the house so they would close properly and easily and finished the week by building a swing set for the boys.
We also went to a nearby shanty town in La Tinguiña to deliver water to the residents of the asentamiento humano Los Girasoles.
And we of course had time to play with the kids.
Apparently Sorry was the game of the week since they always wanted to play.

Now it is off to Kusi (with Billy!) for 10 days with a group from Virginia!
